High-Flow Foley Balloon Catheter

The Foley Balloon Catheter is a flexible tube that is used by the medical practitioners to drain the urine from the bladder. The Foley Balloon Catheter is an indwelling Catheter, which is used to assist people who cannot urinate on their own due to surgery/ old age etc.

 The normal Foley Balloon Catheter is used for short term urine drainage and faces a common problem of blockage caused due to Salt Encrustation. Every time the Catheter needs to be replaced   due to blockage and failure, it increases the cost of consumables and also the discomfort caused to the patient is significant.

Sterimed Introduces High-Flow Foley Balloon Catheter to overcome the problems of a normal Foley Balloon Catheter. High-Flow Foley Balloon Catheter has a coating of silicon Elastomer which, when compared to uncoated catheters leads to a 54% fall in the coefficient of friction.  Meaning, the possibility of tissue damage and trauma is reduced to half.

The Sterimed High-Flow Foley Balloon comes with a Unique four layer system that overcomes the drawbacks of a normal Foley Balloon Catheter. 

The first and the inner most layer is made of the Non Adherent Silicon Elastomer that deters salt crystals from attaching themselves to the Catheter’s inner surface. This reduces the chance of blockage.

The second layer is made up of High Strength Polymer in the middle of the catheter that provides strength to the Catheter wall and ensures wider inner diameter allowing a larger Lumen Size. This larger lumen size allows higher flow rate and thus the name given High-Flow Foley Balloon Catheter. 

The third layer is made from special Low Protein Latex with suitable anti-oxidants, forming the main body of the Catheter providing it softness and keeping it low in allergens.

The outermost layer or say the fourth layer that comes in contact with the body is made of Silicon Elastomer that minimises the occurrence of Allergy and irritation when the catheter comes in contact with the patient.  Also in case of Elastomer coated Catheter, the coefficient of friction remains consistently low ensuring a trauma free removal of the Catheter.

High-Flow Foley Balloon Catheter comes in two variants – High- Flow 2 Way and High– Flow 3 way. Two-Way High Flow Foley Balloon Catheter comes in the sizes of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 FRG. The Three-Way High Flow Foley Balloon Catheter comes in  16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 FRG sizes.
